What’s new at Sandals Resorts? Quite a bit in 2022 and even more planned for the near future! This year marked forty years for the resort brand that brought you the iconic swim-up pool. Sandals Resorts International is now embarking on a multi-year expansion and innovation plan. This will boost a strong tourism comeback with an investment of over $196 million. Sandals Resorts News: New Properties, Expansions & More
Sandals Royal Curaçao
This is Sandals’ first venture in Curaçao. Sandals Royal Curaçao is set to open on June 1, 2022, and will host 351 luxurious rooms and suites in 24 room categories. This property will have the brand’s first Dos Awa infinity pool with views of the sea and rugged landscape. It will also be home to The Duchess, Sandals’ first-ever floating restaurant and bar. In addition, guests can enjoy nine on-site 5-star Global Gourmet restaurants, three oceanfront wedding venues, a luxurious Red Lane Spa, and access to the 18-hole Pete Dye championship golf course.
Beaches St. Vincent
Sandals Resorts is expanding into the “Jewels of the Caribbean” following the acquisition of Buccament Bay Spa and Resort in St. Vincent. Although an opening date has not been announced for this property yet, we will keep you updated!
Three New Resorts in Ocho Rios
Jamaica is a special destination for Sandals Resorts. Nearly half of the brands’ 18 current resorts are located here and three additional properties are on their way. Phase 1 of this plan begins with the total transformation of Sandals Dunn’s River. Expect to see this property reopen towards the end of 2022. Phase 2 involves the creation of sister property Sandals Royal Dunn’s River. Slated completion for this one falls in 2023.
In addition to the $230 million development of Sandals Dunn’s River and its sister property, Sandals is also planning a huge renovation for its third new location in Ocho Rios, Beaches Runaway Bay Resort. This property boasts 400 expansive one, two, three, and four-bedroom suites, making it the perfect resort for extended families.

Sandals Royal Bahamian Reopens
The Sandals Royal Bahamian property reopened on January 27, 2022, marking 25 years for Sandals Resorts in the Bahamas. The opening comes after a multi-million-dollar renovation. With new iconic river suites, Sandals Royal Bahamian also introduces an innovative new concept: Coconut Grove. Coconut Grove is an expansive lounge area that extends the beach vibes to the center of the resort.
